Tokyo, 13 May 2025: On the sidelines of the RJC9 Stakeholder Roundtable, co-hosted by ERIA and the Australian National University, ERIA President Tetsuya Watanabe met with John Denton, Secretary General of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), in Tokyo. Both leaders participated in the RJC9 Roundtable, held at the International House of Japan.
Established in 1919 and headquartered in Paris, the ICC is the world’s largest and most representative business organization, serving as the global voice of enterprises in over 170 countries.
During the meeting, President Watanabe shared updates on ERIA’s recent initiatives and strategic priorities, including its work on the digital economy, carbon markets, and entrepreneurship development – particularly in support of startups.
The two leaders exchanged views on the economic outlook for ASEAN and the broader region, emphasising the importance of stronger collaboration between policymakers, research institutions, and the business community in addressing current global challenges.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to explore concrete areas for cooperation, with the goal of strengthening ties between ERIA and the ICC in support of inclusive and sustainable economic growth across ASEAN.
