Tetsuya Watanabe is President of ERIA (Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia), an international organisation based in Jakarta that provides a multistakeholder platform for policy dialogue and regional cooperation.
He works closely with the ASEAN Secretariat, governments, academia, the private sector, and civil society across ASEAN and East Asia.
His research and leadership focus on key policy areas including supply chains, decarbonisation, artificial intelligence, the digital economy, startups, public health, and human resource development. Prior to joining ERIA in 2023, he served as Special Advisor to the Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.
